For Tuttnauer Autoclaves:
**A dirty Air Jet is the number one cause of failed spore tests and indicator strips not turning color.**
The two main functions of the Air Jet are (1) to allow the air inside the chamber to escape during the heat up stage, so that the temperature can rise properly, and (2) to allow the steam inside the chamber to purge out all during the cycle, causing the steam to circulate and mix evenly throughout.
The Air Jet, which is located just inside the water reservoir, should be cleaned once per week, or more often if necessary, to remove any accumulated dirt and debris. First remove the water reservoir cover, and then with an object similar to a pen or screw driver, snag the loop on the end of the clean out wire protruding from the air jet (do not confuse with the safety relief valve). Move that clean out wire back and forth 10 times. It is preferred to do this when the unit is running a cycle and under pressure so any loosened debris will be blown away. However, it can be done while the unit is idle.
For STATIM 2000 and 5000 models:
air filters should be replaced every six months in order to maintain an adequate supply of clean air during the air drying cycle.
cassette seals should be changed every 500 cycles or six months, whichever comes first, to ensure optimum performance.
only steam-process distilled water should be used
a factory trained technician should inspect your autoclave once every two years and replace the check valve and the exhaust push-in fitting
the solenoid valve should be inspected and replaced as required.
